TV and Movies!
I grew up watching a lot and i mean A LOT of TV and not only that, but I also watched a Ton of movies. I wouldn't regret it, because after all, it really is one aspect of connecting with someone. For example, "Hey, I used to watch that show too! Killer tofu!" Now for those of you that are completely lost by that, it's referring to the Nickelodeon show, Doug. Anyways, I also ponder about how much TV we watch everyday and how it conciously or unconsciously shaped our lives. Many, may think that's not possible because they have a very realistic outlook on life, but me, I have this view of the world around me as if it could be a movie or TV show. I know that no one is perfect and that guys are not as sappy or think as much into things as the men on shows, let alone are aware of everything women are thinking. I'm not putting them down at all, it's just so interesting to me that men and women can connect but at the same time find it difficult to understand each other. Look at it this way, some men may be watching shows on the discovery channel about how things are made, or Myth Busters, and or you have have other men that watch sports with statistics and constant memorizing of different plays and stats. Then there is the women's world. Most women I would say, or the category that I fall under would be that I like watching sit-coms, but then when there are no more epispodes left to watch online, then I turn to the shows that I wouldn't be as likely to watch, as I would call them, melo-dramas, which I honestly think is harmonious with soap operas. Now, I refuse to get into a soap, but I remember not too long ago watching Grey's Anatomy religiously and after a few years I grew to loathe that show. So dramatic, after awhile I didn't even understand how the show continues to air because, I would feel so effected by the show, that I would be sad by it, and if wasn't even real! I stopped watching it, because thanks to being in college I have my own drama I have to deal with and just like the Screwball comedies or the 1930s, I want to watch something that lets me escape all of that and create a fantasy world. I think if there were more comedies and less drama in life everyone would be so much happier and God forbid, laugh more, without feeling silly or restricted to playing it cool. I think that with more comedy in our lives we would be less likely to snap at someone, but rather instead to look at life like it was a sit-com. Make fun of yourself to ease the embarassment. We complain about our teachers being so annoying or so boring, but how about the fact that it's not easy to entertain a college student. If, I was to view my opinion of my teacher as if I was on a sit-com I might joke about me being in class zoning out and not listening to him but trying to understand if the teacher reaizes that the first two rows were asleep as soon as he said hello class, in a completely mono tone voice. hahaha! Another refreshing concept is stand-up, or just jokes in general. I LOVE Dane Cook jokes! Mostly because they are so true! Whenever I hear a car alarm I think beeeep beeeeep I am a car I run on gas beeeeeep beeeeep :P You might have to search for this on YouTube to get a better understanding. But yea, I have class now, and I realize that I just went on a tangent and totally forgot my main point, but I'll fix it later. It's nice having a blog to let it all out though :)
